Each Chinese class is an exploration
The 6A teaching method is a core part of our inquiry-based learning method. It allows learners to bring an sense of exploration to the learning process. By asking questions, kids actively participate in learning and develop their independent thinking, discovery, investigation and problem-solving skills.
The TPR method is an method to language teaching promoted by the American psychologist James Asher. It aims to couple language with the body's physical responses. We apply this Method to our classes, with repeated simulations used to familiarize learners with various structures and sentences. Classes are enriched and enlivened by adopting exaggerated body language and facial expressions and emphasizing the cadence of the spoken language, while also following the principles for the use of a mediating language.
Reading, Writing, Listening & Speaking
Listening comes before speaking. We use interactive methods to help kids develop a sense of the language and move from listening to speaking. Using games and character-recognition methods, we help kids progress from reading to writing. Finally, by sparking kids' interest in different texts, we help them gradually advance to writing letters, diaries and even poetry.
Reading & Comprehension
With lively and interactive classroom activities and a scenario-based method, we help kids expand their vocabulary, learn Chinese characters, phrases and sentences, and cultivate self-directed reading habits. Starting from simple reading materials that are interesting and informative, we gradually build up kids' reading comprehension.
Cultural Literacy
With our Ocean Pinyin, Chinese idioms, Chinese classics reading, and charitable culture sessions, we blend culture into our teaching to improve kids' cultural literacy and overall Chinese proficiency.
We have four graded Chinese programs to meet different needs: Pre-K Chinese, International Chinese, Advanced Chinese, and Basic Chinese. Each program is divided into different levels covering preschool, elementary and middle school.
